The purpose of the Direct Edge Manufacturing Privacy Policy is to outline how we comply with privacy obligations as required under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Commonwealth privacy laws known as Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Direct Edge collects personal information from customers, suppliers, and employees only where necessary for business functions. This may include:
- Contact Details: Names, titles, addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses.
- Business Information: Engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and RFQs.
- Financial Data: Credit card or bank details required for processing transactions.
- Employment Data: Resumes, qualifications, bank details, and training records for our workforce.
Direct Edge will only use or disclose your personal information for the primary purpose for which it was collected, such as conducting and improving our business relationship. We do not disclose personal information to overseas recipients without consent (see Our Website & Online Forms below).
We take reasonable steps to ensure that all personal information is securely stored in hard copy or electronic form, protected from misuse, loss, or unauthorised access.
This section explains how we handle personal information when you use www.directedge.com.au. It forms part of our Privacy Policy.
Quote requests and job applications
- What we collect: the details you enter (such as your name, company, email address, phone number, project details or work experience) and any files you attach, such as drawings, specifications or a résumé.
- Why: to respond to your quote request, or to assess your job application and contact you about it. If you would rather not use the form, you can email customers@directedge.com.au or call (03) 6434 0500 instead.
- How it reaches us: your submission is not stored on the website. It is sent in encrypted form through two service providers and delivered to our Microsoft 365 email system:
- Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) hosts this website, checks submissions for spam and passes them on. Cloudflare operates data centres around the world.
- SMTP2GO (New Zealand) delivers each submission to our email.
- Who sees it: Direct Edge staff who need it to respond to you. We do not sell your personal information.
- How long we keep it: quote enquiries are kept with our customer records. Job applications are kept only as long as needed for recruitment and are then securely deleted, unless you join our team.
Spam protection: our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a person, not an automated program, is filling them in. To do this, Cloudflare looks at information about your browser and device. Cloudflare states that it does not use this information for advertising.
Map: our Contact page shows a Google Map. When it loads, Google (United States) receives your IP address and browser information and may set cookies, under Google's privacy policy.
Cookies and analytics: this website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not currently use website analytics.
Questions or complaints: contact us on (03) 6434 0500, at customers@directedge.com.au, or by post to Attn: Privacy, 47–53 Strahan Street, South Burnie TAS 7320. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
