Certified to ISO 3834-2: comprehensive quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials.
ISO 3834 sets out how a manufacturer must control fusion welding, from reviewing customer requirements through to inspection and records. Part 2 is the comprehensive level, the most demanding of the standard's quality levels. Direct Edge is certified to ISO 3834-2 by DVS ZERT.
Welding Processes
- 131: Metal inert gas (MIG) welding
- 135: Metal active gas (MAG) welding
- 141: Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding with solid filler
Material Groups (ISO/TR 15608)

|---|---|
| 1.1 | Carbon steels, minimum yield strength up to 275 MPa |
| 1.2 | Carbon steels, minimum yield strength 275–360 MPa |
| 8.1 | Austenitic stainless steels (e.g. 304, 316) |
| 22 | Non-heat-treatable aluminium alloys (e.g. 5000 series) |
| 23.1 | Heat-treatable Al-Mg-Si aluminium alloys (e.g. 6000 series) |
Welding Codes We Work To
Alongside our certified quality system, we weld to the Australian and international codes our customers specify, including:
- AS/NZS 1554.1: Welding of steel structures
- AS/NZS 1554.6: Welding of stainless steels for structural purposes
- AS/NZS 1554.7: Welding of sheet steel structures
- AS 1665: Welding of aluminium structures
- ISO 15614-1: Welding procedure qualification for steels
- ISO 9606-1: Qualification testing of welders for steels
What the Certification Covers
- Requirements & technical review: Customer specifications and welding requirements are reviewed before production begins.
- Qualified procedures & welders: Work is carried out to qualified welding procedure specifications (WPS) by qualified welders.
- Qualified welding personnel on site: Welding is coordinated and inspected in-house by our International Welding Engineer (IWE), International Welding Specialist (IWS) and International Welding Inspector (IWI).
- Equipment & consumables: Welding equipment is maintained and calibrated, and consumables are stored and handled under control.
- Inspection & traceability: Inspection before, during and after welding, with identification, traceability and quality records.
For welding of military technical products, see our DIN 2303 Q2 BK1 qualification.
